In two tough conference games, the Decorah softball team (1-4, 1-3 NEIC) fell to Crestwood (4-0, 3-0 NEIC) in both matches on the road Tuesday night.
In the first game, the Vikes fell 6-3 in eight innings. All the runs came in the final two innings. Decorah got on the board first in the seventh frame when two runs scored. However, the Cadets responded with two of their own to force extra innings. Decorah took the lead back in the top of the eighth with a run, but the Cadets hit a grandslam in the bottom half of the inning to get the win.
Decorah had six hits. Chelsey Twait was 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI. Payton Hjerleid, Riley Hubka, Maddy Ihde and Tess Olinger all had one hit.
Annika Vande Krol took the loss.
