A three by Waukon’s Justyn Herman with 4:37 remaining in the game broke a tie and propelled Waukon to a 61-46 victory over Decorah Monday night in a Class 3A District 6 semifinal in Cresco.
The loss ends Decorah’s season at 10-12.Waukon (9-12) advances to face Crestwood (14-7) in the district final tonight, Thursday, Feb. 27, in Decorah at 7 p.m.

Back and forth
Fans got their money’s worth Monday night as the action went back and forth all game between the Vikings and Indians, who split the season series with each winning at home.
Decorah got on the board first when Holt Johansen hit a jumper a minute into the game. Waukon answered with five straight points before Chris Hartman made it 5-4. With Waukon scoring another four points, Drake Schuring hit a deep two. The Indians scored four more points to lead 13-6 after one quarter.
