Thirteen Trojans all-district

Thirteen members of the Turkey Valley football team were named to the Class A District 3 honors list.
In addition, two were named to the academic all-district list.
Seven members were named to the first team.
On defense, Riley Busta, a senior, was named first team lineman for the first time in his career. Ri. Busta was fourth on the team with 56 total tackles. He had 29 solo and 27 assists. He also had one interception, returned 32 yards.
Riley Meirick, a senior, earned his second all-district honor. Meirick, who was honored for his play as a defensive back, earned honorable mention in 2012. He had 42 tackles, with 16 solo and 26 assisted tackles. He also had one interception, returned 24 yards, and one fumble recovery.
Senior Kyle Reicks was chosen first team utility player. He was named second team a year ago. Reicks was second on the team in tackles with 80 total (45 solo, 35 assisted). He also had one solo tackle and two assisted tackles for a loss. Reicks had one interception returned 14 yards.
Eric Buckendahl was named first team punter. Last year he was a second team honoree. The senior punted 37 times for 1,177 total yards, an average of 31.8. He was also named second team offensive back. From the running back position, he averaged 8.4 yards a carry, collecting 412 total on 49 carries.
On offense, seniors Riley Buchheit and Charles Hadacek were both recognized. This is Buchheit's first honor and the second for Hadacek. As an offensive unit, the Trojans picked up 537 yards passing and 2,654 on the ground for 3,191 total yards, averaging 5.8 a play.
Senior Luke Kuennen was recognized for his work out of the backfield. As a first time honoree, Kuennen galloped 1,100 yards on 168 attempts, averaging 6.5 yards per touch. He led the team with 19 touchdowns.
In addition to Buckendahl, four other athletes were named second team.
On offense, senior Jacob Hackman was recognized for his play as a lineman. Hackman and the rest of the lined helped the Trojans score 326 points this season, averaging 29.6 points per contest.
Senior quarterback Ryan Busta earned his first honor. Busta completed 30-of-65 passes for 512 yards and five touchdowns. He averaged 17.1 yards per completion.
On defense, Tyler Sawyer, a senior, was named second team linebacker. Sawyer led the team in tackles with 90, having 42 solo and 48 assisted stops. He had two solo tackles for a loss.
Justin Kime, a junior, was named second team defensive back for the first time in his career. Kime had 31 total tackles, with 10 solo and 21 assists. Kime also had one interception returned 10 yards.
Jacob Buss and Jordan Denk both were named honorable mention.
Buss, a senior, had 10 tackles for the season on defense. Offensively, he caught four passes for 99 yards and one touchdown.
Denk, a senior, rushed 24 times this season for 69 yards, with one touchdown. He also had 11 tackles on defense.
In addition to their honors for play on the gridiron, Meirick and Justin Hackman were recognized as being named academic all-district.
