Ron Taylor of Decorah is the winner of the first week of the pigskin picks contest.
Taylor missed just two games on the week, the only participant to do so.
Earning second place was Dale Olson of Decorah, who missed three games. Third place went to Kevin Schmitt of Fort Atkinson. Schmitt missed four games and was just three points away from the tie breaker. Also missing four games were Sue Roby of Decorah, Jesse Lepa of Decorah and Paul Schmitz of Mabel, Minn.
Starmont scored the most points this week with 60 on Turkey Valley. Mary Welch of Calmar and Pat Lien of Decorah were the closest to the tie breaker, both one point off.
The most commonly missed games were North-Linn defeating Postville, Epworth over Vinton-Shellsburg, Michigan State falling to Notre Dame, St. Louis defeating Washington and Indianapolis just edging Minnesota.
