The Turkey Valley football team knew it needed to play a nearly perfect game in order to upset Class A No. 3 North Tama Wednesday night in the first round of the playoffs.
Unfortunately, the Redhawks were able to force some Turkey Valley mistakes and end the Trojans' season with a 43-14 loss.
Turkey Valley ended the year 4-6. North Tama (9-1) advanced to the second round against Starmont (8-2), played Monday.
"We needed to play a perfect game but did not," said Coach Mark Scott. "North Tama has a good football team and will create problems for whomever they play next."
What happened Wednesday
North Tama jumped on the Trojans early, scoring on a 1-yard rush in the first quarter to go up 7-0. They added two more in that frame, the first on a 2-yard run and then on a 56-yard scamper. At the end of the first, it was 22-0 Redhawks.
