The Turkey Valley girls golf team nearly accomplished its goal Monday at the Class 1A Region 4C regional meet.
The Trojans were aiming for third and finished just five strokes away from the goal.
Central City, with a 391, and Central Elkader, with a 412, advanced to the regional final from Monday’s meet at Buffalo Creek Golf Course in Winthrop. Edgewood-Colesburg took third with a 433 while Turkey Valley carded fourth with a 428.
The top-five individuals also advance to the regional final. Jessica Etton of Central City was the medalist with an 88. Alyssa Purman of Central took the runner-up spot with a 94. Also advancing from Monday were Kalley Tyne, Central City, 96; Kaitlyn Orr, Central, 101; Delaney Baumgartner, Starmont, 102; Nicki Enabitt, Central City, 102; and Allyson Snook, Ed-Co, 102.
