A slow first half offensively hurt the Turkey Valley girls basketball team Friday night as the Trojans (0-1) fell to Dunkerton 42-35 in the opening game of the season.

"The girls played hard and had the game tied at the end of the third quarter," said Co-Coaches Dan Stepan and Carla Nymeyer. "We are infusing the young and older players.It will take a little time, but I like the way we are heading."

The Trojans started the game scoring just three points in the first quarter, falling behind 3-8. They added seven in the second to make it 10-19 at the halftime break. They Trojans mounted a comeback in the third quarter, but the Raiders held on for the seven-point victory.

The Trojans were led by Chloe Reicks. The senior had nine points and five rebounds. Morgen Kuennen added seven points while Amanda Mueterthies had six. Allison Kuennen had four rebounds while Taylor Novotny had five points.

The Trojans are at Kee today, Tuesday, Nov. 26, at 7:30 p.m. for the varsity tip.
