The Turkey Valley girls basketball team's defensive effort Tuesday night against West Central (0-3, 0-2 UIC) gave Co-Coaches Dan Stepan and Mike Kuennen lots to be proud of as the Trojans (3-2, 2-2 UIC) defeated the Blue Devils 39-21 in Jackson Junction.

The Trojans limited West Central to just two points in the first quarter and six total for the first half.

The Trojans offense did just enough, building a 13-2 lead after the first eight minutes. Although they scored just six points in the second, it helped them increase the lead, sending the teams into halftime with a 19-6 Trojan advantage.

In the third quarter, both teams put up eight points, leaving the lead at 13. A 12-point fourth quarter propelled the Trojans to an 18-point win.

"The girls played outstanding defense," said Coaches Kuennen and Stepan. "We rebounded much better this game. The girls took good shots within the offense."
