South Winn's Loren Straube will be receiving the Iowa Football Coaches Association Assistant Coach of the Year award in Class 1A.
Straube will receive the award Thursday, Nov. 15, at halftime of the Class 3A state championship game, which begins at 7:06 p.m.
Straube has been an assistant coach at the high school level at South Winneshiek for 33 years. He recently retired from teaching at South Winn after teaching high school science courses for 32 years.
"It has been both an honor and a pleasure to work with Loren the last six seasons at South Winneshiek. This is a well-deserved award for Loren and his family," said Coach Jason Ohrt. "Loren has been a model teacher, coach and citizen in the community and has been a major contributor to our recent success as a football program."
