Six girls from SW, TV named all-UIC

Six local athletes from the Upper Iowa Conference were named to the all-conference list, released earlier in the week.
Three girls from South Winn and three from Turkey Valley were recognized by the Upper Iowa Conference coaches.
Payton Poshusta and Turkey Valley’s Chloe Reicks were both named first team.
Poshusta, a junior, was chosen as honorable mention a year ago while Reicks, a senior, is recognized for the first time.
Poshusta led her team with 11.8 points per game, hitting 39.7 percent of her shots from the field and 32.9 percent from behind the line. She also led the way in rebounds with 117 total, 21 offensive and 96 defensive. She averaged 5.9 a contest. In addition, Poshusta had 54 assists and made 60 steals.
C. Reicks hit 36.2 percent of her shots from the floor, averaging 7.4 points per game. She pulled down 77 total rebounds, with 29 offensive and 48 defensive for 3.3 rebounds per game. She also contributed 24 assists and 34 steals, along with eight blocks.
South Winn senior Micole Lansing and Turkey Valley freshman Shelby Reicks were recognized on the second team list. Lansing was named honorable mention in 2013.
During her senior campaign, Lansing averaged 8.4 points per game. She shot 34.2 percent from the field and 37.1 percent from three-point land. She pulled down 53 total rebounds, averaging 2.7 a game. She led the team in assists with 99 and in steals with 69.
As a freshman, S. Reicks scored 8.1 points per game, leading the team. She hit 34.8 percent from the floor. She also led the team in assists with 69 and steals with 66, along with eight blocks. She recorded 31 rebounds (1.6 a game).
South Winn’s Abby Phillips and Turkey Valley’s Johanna Blazek were both honored for the first time in their careers by being named honorable mention.
hillips, a senior, was third on the team in rebounds with 70 total (38 offensive, 32 defensive), averaging 3.5 a game. She scored 4.5 points per night, hitting 47.6 percent of her shots from the field, the best average on the team.
Blazek, a junior, was second on the team in assists with 34 and also in steals with 40. She averaged 6.5 points per game by hitting 29.9 percent of her shots from the field. She also pulled down 72 total rebounds (28 offensive, 44 defensive) for a 3.8 rebounds per game average.
