The ink hasn’t even dried on the final game in the play book, but that doesn’t mean Decorah Head Baseball Coach Dennis Olejniczak isn’t already thinking about 2015.
The veteran coach has returned his contract to stand on the sidelines for next season, his 52nd with Decorah and 53rd overall.
“I love the challenge of the game of baseball because it’s such a game that you can do what is quite well and right one what you should do and sometimes you don’t get the win,” he said.
“I really like our kids, and I really like the challenge of the game of baseball, and I feel I’m still very competitive. The second thing I value behind winning is to be able to carry away from our program very much life experiences that they will use quite often to make them have a stable life and have a successful life, and I feel very strongly about what we do in our program to help them blossom as a total person. I get emails, telephone calls, letters that make it so rewarding to have coached 330 players. That’s a very rewarding part of being a coach.”
