The season came to an end for the South Winn softball team in the second round of regional play.

The Warriors fell to Sumner-Fred (27-6) 2-12 in five innings Thursday in Sumner. Sumner-Fred fell to Denver in the regional semifinal Saturday.

South Winn ended the season 12-21.

In Thursday's quarterfinal game, the Warriors fell behind early when the Cougars scored two runs in the bottom of the first. The Warriors came back with two runs in the top of the third to tie the game; however, the Cougars put up four runs in the third inning. They added five runs in the fourth and one in the fifth to end the game after five frames.

The Warriors had just seven hits in the game. No other individual stats were available as of press time.

South Winn returns with most of its line-up in tact next season as they lose just Morgan Kuennen, Katelyn Elsbernd and Jenn Panos to graduation.
