Decorah sophomore Sam Sacquitne had a great summer on the links.

Sacquitne competed in seven golf events this summer, competing in the boys 14-15 year-old division.

Sacquitne's first event was the Junior Tour Kick Off June 7 at Pheasant Ridge Golf Course. He shot a +8 to tie for sixth with an 80. He was the champion of the Eagle Junior Kick Off at Mason City, firing a +11 83 to get the win.

He competed in a two-day state qualifier for Big "I" Trusted Choice at Blue Top Ridge at Riverside June 25-26. He fired an 84 the first day and 76 the second for a 160, taking third.

June 15-16 was the Junior Tour Mid-Summer Classic at Briarwood Club of Ankeny. He carded an 81 the first day, then 74 the second for a 155. He finished 13th.

It was a championship day July 24 at Cedar Ridge Golf Club at the Cedar Ridge Junior eet. Sacquitne fired a +2, 74 to win the event. July 30 was the Iowa City Junior at Finkbine. He shot a 79.

The final event of the summer was the Pheasant Ridge Junior at Pheasant Ridge Golf Course. Sacquitne improved his score by 10 strokes from earlier in the summer, fashioning a -2 to card a 70.

Sacquitne is the son of John and Ruth Ann Sacquitne of Decorah.
