Looking to get something going in the final conference match of the season, the South Winn volleyball team (12-14, 6-2 UIC) fell to Starmont (15-15, 4-4 UIC) 2-3 in Calmar Tuesday.

Game scores were 16-25, 25-12, 22-25, 25-14, 8-15.

During the regular season, the Warriors finished third in the conference. Sumner-Fred led the league with an unblemished mark.

As a team, South Winn had 58 kills, 184 attack attempts, 55 assists, 62 digs, 12 total blocks and produced a .916 serving efficiency (87-for-95 with 12 aces).

Lexie Warth provided 17 kills and 46 attack attempts, the most on the team. She also had two assisted blocks. Micole Lansing had 12 kills, 41 attack attempts, 18 digs and served 13-for-14 with two aces. Becca Franzen led the way at the service line with a 23-for-24 night. She also had five aces, five kills, 45 assists and eight digs. Leah Elsbernd had nine digs and served 14-for-14. Brittany Shindelar contributed three total blocks and had 10 kills. Megan Elsbernd served 16-for-17 while Carlee Knutson served 12-for-14.

The Warriors will compete with the other Upper Iowa Conference teams at the UIC tournament, beginning Thursday, Oct. 17.
