South Winn and Turkey Valley will have a combined three wrestlers competing at the state wrestling tournament this week.

Two Warriors and one Trojan finished in the top two at the district wrestling tournament hosted by Aplington-Parkersburg Saturday.

Colton Hageman and Chris Brincks from South Winn and Luke Kuennen from Turkey Valley will compete at state, which runs Thursday through Saturday, Feb. 14-16, at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines. The Warriors and Trojans compete in Class 1A. The first round is 9 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 14.

Moving on

Wrestlers needed to finish in the top two in order to advance to state. Wrestle backs were used if the second and third place wrestlers hadn't competed against each other in the first round, determing the true second place competitor.
