Opening the 2012-13 season at Waukon Friday, the South Winn girls basketball team (0-1) struggled offensively, falling 33-58.
The Warriors trialed 8-20 at the end of the first and 19-35 at the half. They added just 14 points in the second half while Waukon put up 23.
"It was a typical first game. We did some good things and some bad things, but there was a good effort from the team," said SW Coach Mike Johnson. "Waukon is a well-coached team. Their size and physical play caused us some problems.
"We will need to rebound quickly for Sumner-Fred Tuesday."
No individual stats were available as of press time.
The Warriors are at Sumner-Fred today, Tuesday, Nov. 20, at 7:30 p.m. in the final game before break.
