The playoffs started with a bang for the Decorah girls soccer team (6-9) as the Vikes knocked off Epworth, Western Dubuque (6-8), 6-0 Thursday night at home.

The Vikes move on to face Dubuque Wahlert (8-9) today, Tuesday, May 28, at 5 p.m. at Dubuque Wahlert. The regional final is Monday, June 3, at Pleasant Valley.

In Thursday evening's game, the Vikes were clearly the dominant team from the get-go, putting countless shots on goal in the opening 20 minutes. However, it wasn't until 18:50 when senior co-captain Abby Arend finally broke through, scoring on an unassisted shot. That was the only goal of the first half.
