The regular season came to an end Friday for the Decorah girls golf team as the Vikings hosted Winona (Minn.) in an 18-hole dual meet at Oneota.

Monday the Vikes traveled to Manchester for the regional final, which featured 12 teams competing for two spots at state.

Winona won the 18-hole meet Friday by carding a 356. Decorah shot a 433.

The medalist was Winona's Abbe Partington, who shot an 84 (43-41).

Decorah was led by Talia Raddatz, who had a 100 (47-53). Alex Lensing came in second for Decorah with a 109 (57-52).

Other varsity scores were Mary Murphy (55-56=111); Melanie Gossman (61-52=113); Alison Schwartzhoff (66-68=134) and Chloe Gossling (70-67=137).

Ashley Gulrud (57-59=116) and Courtney Robinson (61-60=121) played a full 18-holes as a JV duo.

Playing nine holes for the JV were Haley Miller, 67; Autumn DeLong, 72; Bailey Hughes, 79; and Annalise Johnson, 79.

"We ended our regular season with a strong showing despite the fact we lost by 77 strokes. However, we shot 63 strokes better than our 18-hole conference meet," said Coach Scott Pierce. "We played well on a beautiful afternoon right before we head to the Regional Final Monday morning in Manchester.

"For a number of girls, this ends their season. We need to improve in many areas for next season. However, our girls golf team recently won the all-activities trophy for the DHS team/activity with the highest GPA. These are good girls who work hard in school. I am proud of them."
