Eleven returning letter winners will be the key for the 2013 Decorah softball team this season.

The Vikings return two starting pitchers and a number of players who took the field last season.

In charge of putting together the strongest line-up is Teri Olson. She will be assisted by Shari Huber.

How they fared in 2012

Last year the Vike relied on five returning letter winners to make the most of the season.

The Vikes had a one-of-a-kind conference year. The Vikes went 1-35 during the NEIC slate to earn a share of the title. It was the first conference title for the Vikes since 2005, when they won it outright.

In the first round of the postseason the Vikings faced Clear Lake in Charles City, winning 13-5. From there it was on to Charles City to face the Comets. Decorah came up short in the semifinals, falling 11-6 to end the season 21-12 overall.

As a team the Vikes batted .323,with a .447 slugging average and .399 on-base percentage. They pounded 62 doubles, 14 homeruns and drove in 180 runs.
