The Vikings have five returning letter winners back on the court this season and a host of young spikers eager to make their varsity debut.
Looking to put together the best team possible is Head Coach Dale Wilharm. Wilharm, who has been with the program 24 years, has produced a 359-360-46 career record.
Memories for 2012
The Vikings in 2012 relied on their five seniors and a host of younger athletes stepping on the varsity court for the first time.
Throughout the season, the Vikings worked to find the best possible line-up. They finished 3-3 in the Northeast Iowa Conference, good for fourth place. At the conference tournament, the Vikes went 1-5 to take sixth.
In the Class 4A quarterfinals, the Vikings had a tough bracket, facing No. 8 West Delaware on the road. The Hawks put up a tough front, winning 3-0 (25-18, 25-14, 25-22).
Decorah ended the year 11-25.
As a team, Decorah had 776 kills and 2,059 attack attempts, producing 8.17 kills per set. Serving the ball, Decorah had 1,417 successes in 1,576 tries, for a .899 serving efficiency. They also had 129 aces. They produced 698 assists (7.35 per set), 723 digs (7.61 per set) and 277 total blocks (143 solo and 134 assists).
