Rain proved to be the only thing that could stop the Decorah boys tennis team over the weekend.

At home
Thursday afternoon the Vikings hosted Independence.
Decorah played 12 different players, including first-time varsity performers Justin Pool, Carl Iverson and Patrick Murphy.
The Vikings easily handled the Mustangs, winning 9-0.
“Most matches were fairly routine. Karl Sand was a little too hyper the first set but settled down nicely in the second set,” said Coach Reg Laursen. “Due to a short rain shower, No. 1 and No. 2 doubles needed to move to the Luther courts to finish their matches. Ross Gentry and Will Yahr’s opponents upped the ante after the move, but Ross and Will withstood the challenge to close out the match.”
Paul Fadness won the only JV match 6-0, 6-0.
