With four conference games in two days, the Turkey Valley softball team (15-17, 11-9 UIC) earned a split.

Tough night
Wednesday the Trojans fell twice in make-up games with Sumner-Fred (23-14, 16-6 UIC).
In game one, Turkey Valley fell 7-6 in the final inning. The Trojans fell behind after the fourth inning but tied it at 4-4 in the seventh. Moving to extra frames, Turkey Valley scored two in the top of the eighth. However, the Cougars added three in the bottom half to win.
Turkey Valley had 11 hits. Kirsten Huinker had three of them, with a triple, two runs scored and an RBI. Arianna Rausch also had three hits.
Sara Fischer took the loss. She spread out 10 hits over eight innings and gave up just one earned run.
Moving to the second game, the Trojans fell 8-2. Both of the Trojans’ runs came in the top of the seventh.
Turkey Valley managed four hits. Macie Njus had two of them. Rausch and Taylor Novotny had the other hits.
Ashley Kurash took the loss.
