It might have felt more like November than April, but that didn’t stop the Decorah and South Winn girls track teams from posting some big times and distances at the Decorah Relays Thursday.
Decorah’s Katelyn Dehning leaps 14 feet, 8.25 inches in the long jump competition Thursday, earning fifth.
The Vikings won their final home meet of the year with 188 points. Dubuque Wahlert was second with 110 points. South Winn came in seventh with 48.
Abby Phillips produced the lone gold for South Winn Thursday night. The senior won the high jump by clearing 4 feet, 10 inches.
Brittany Shindelar and Courtney Humpal were the highlights of the shot put. Shindelar, who was running back and forth between the shot and the distance medley relay, had a best throw of 35 feet, 4 inches to earn second. Humpal took fourth with a put of 34 feet, 2 inches.
The distance medley relay had a strong time. Kennidee DeVilbiss, Shindelar, Becca Hertges and RaeAnn Klimesh posted a time of 4:42.97, earning third overall.
DeVilbiss came back in the 400-meter hurdles to earn bronze in 1:12.20. Teammate Amber Brincks was fourth in 1:17.61.
