The nationally ranked No. 14 Wheaton College football team (3-0) defeated Luther (1-2) 38-12 Saturday in McCully Stadium in Wheaton, Ill.
The high-powered Thunder offense, ranked No. 3 in NCAA III entering Saturday's game, produced 416 yards of total offense, averaging 7.3 yards per play. The Thunder scored four of the first five times they had the football and led 38-0 entering the fourth quarter.
Following an Alex Peterson interception, Christian Moore got the Norse on the scoreboard with a 55-yard touchdown with 14:50 left in the game. Josh Vos, who led the Norse rushing attack with 71 yards, scored on a 2-yard plunge as time expired.
Luther tallied 264 yards of total offense on 67 plays, with 229 coming on the ground.
Defensively, Eric Pittman and Aric Elton led the squad with 6.5 and 6 tackles respectively. Elton also recorded a sack, while Matt Schiedle was credited with a fumble recovery.
Luther is off this week and returns to action Oct. 5 when it hosts Loras College for homecoming. Kickoff in Carlson Stadium is scheduled for 1 p.m.
