The No. 8 Luther softball team had its 13-game win streak snapped Friday afternoon in the opening game of the NCAA III Pella Regional as the Norse were defeated by Washington-St. Louis 7-2.
Wash U. tallied 10 hits, scoring a run in the first, second and sixth innings and four in the seventh.
The Bears Annie Pitkin (17-10) tossed a four-hit complete game victory. Kelsey Rose and Katie Wieland both hit solo home runs. Rose tied the game (1-1) in the bottom of the first, and Wieland tied the game (2-2) in the fourth.
The Norse (30-7) face Central College (29-12) in an elimination game Saturday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. Central was defeated by North Central (IL) 5-0 in Friday's second game. The winner will face the loser of the Washington-St. Louis vs. North Central game at 4:00 p.m. Wash. U. and North Central begin the day’s action at 11:00 a.m.
