A one-hour lightning delay did nothing to stop the Class 1A No. 2 South Winn football team (1-0) Friday night as the Warriors took care of unranked Waukon (0-1) on the road 34-12.
Last season Waukon, which plays in Class 2A, finished second in the state.
Friday night, SW played up to its ranking, producing 351 yards of total offense in what was sometimes an all-out downpour.

How they scored
The Indians struck first, scoring on a 31-yard rush early on. The two-point try failed, giving the Indians a 6-0 lead. However, the Warriors put things together, with Treyton Jacobsen capping a drive with a 7-yard rush. Quarterback Logan Schweinefus found Carson Lensing for the two-point try to give SW an 8-0 lead. Still in the first, Ryan Hageman scored his first points of the season on a 13-yard run. Jacobsen converted the two-point try to make it 16-6 after the first 12 minutes.
