Playing their first game in the Upper Iowa Conference this season, the Turkey Valley girls basketball team (2-0, 1-0 UIC) pulled away from Valley early, winning 57-37.

The Trojans scored 14 in the first quarter to lead 14-4, then extended it by eight more in the second to go into the locker room up 26-8. They put up 31 more in the second half.

"The girls ran the floor well and filled the lanes to get into scoring position," said Coaches Mike Kuennen and Dan Stepan. "Our communication was better this game, but it is still a work in progress."

Allie Njus had a huge game. The senior shot 15-of-27 from the floor to score 32 points, along with four rebounds, five assists and 11 steals. Macey Winter added eight points, along with seven total rebounds. Amanda Mueterthies had six points while Chloe Reicks scored four.

The Trojans host South Winn Tuesday, Nov, 27, in a JV/varsity double header, with the varsity game around 7:30 p.m.
