The Decorah swim team is headed back to the state meet.
The Vikes will have one individual and two relays competing at the state meet, after qualifying based on their times at the regional meet Saturday in Cedar Falls.
Taylor Martinek qualified in the 100-yard backstroke while the 200 and 400-yard freestyle relays also advanced.
The state meet is Saturday, Nov. 3, in Marshalltown, beginning at noon.
State qualifiers are determined based on performance at regionals. There are 24 entries in each event at state.
The Vikes finished sixth overall in team standings with 213 points. Cedar Falls, which hosted the event, took first with 465 points.
Martinek, a sophomore, qualified in the 100 backstroke. She finished second at the regional event in 1:01.87. She was 1.42 seconds from winning the event while cutting 2.5 seconds off her seed time.
The 200 freestyle relay of Katelyn Yee, Monica Tappe, Martinek and Kathryn Appler will be swimming at state. The quartet finished fifth at the regional event in 1:44.37. They cut 3.94 seconds off their seed time. Although they didn't finish first, their time was strong enough to qualify the event for state.
The 400-yard freestyle relay of Jennison Jenkins, Yee, Martinek and Appler will also get their feet wet at state. They took fifth in 3:53.04 seconds, cutting an amazing 7.15 seconds off the seed time.
