After not scoring a single point in the first quarter, the Decorah boys basketball team (0-2, 0-1 NEIC) battled back Tuesday night in Waukon (3-1, 1-0 NEIC) before ultimately falling to the Indians 47-32.
"We did not come ready to play tonight as a group, and when you aren't ready to play against a team like Waukon, you get beat," said Coach Jonathan Carlson.
The Vikings struggled to get a shot off in the first quarter while the Indians found a shooting touch. They posted 13 points in the frame to go up 13-0 at the end of one. It wasn't until the 6:58 mark that Decorah got on the board when Jacob Leeps nailed a three pointer. Just a minute later Leeps was back on the attack, posting another three to make it 13-6. Decorah continued to battle back. They trailed 8-15 with three minutes remaining before scoring the final eight points of the half to lead 16-15 with 16 minutes remaining.
