Emma Looney-Bachelder, a 10-year-old from Decorah, qualified to compete in the 2013 All-Stars Swim Meet in Lawrence, Kan., held this past weekend.
To qualify for this meet you have to be in the top-five swimmers in the state of Iowa in each event. She qualified for 50 breaststroke, 100 breaststroke, 50 butterfly and 100 freestyle, as well as the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays. In total, 11 girls from the state in the 9-10 age group qualified for this meet.
Looney-Bachelder cut time in the 100 breaststroke and 100 freestyle. She swam the breaststroke in 1:29.35, a difference of over five seconds. In the 100 freestyle she touched the wall in 1:09.05, an improvement of over one second. In the 50 breaststroke she finished in 43.35 seconds while her 50 fly time was 37.75 seconds.
She also swam both relays for team Iowa. She swam the 50 fly in the 200 medley, with a split time of 33.76 seconds. The medley finished in 2:20.03. In the 200 free relay, her split time was 31.20 seconds, with the relay finishing in 2:07.30.
Looney-Bachelder is the daughter of Kelly and Allie Bachelder.
