The Vikings have just four seniors on the 2013-14 squad, with several juniors and even sophomores looking to contribute.
Looking to put together the most cohesive team possible is Head Coach Brigit Storhoff. She is in her third season with the program and will be assisted by Dale Wilharm, Cindy Albers and Shannon Quandahl.
A look back
The Vikings of 2012-13 had four seniors, all with lots of game experience. The Vikes had some growing pains, going 4-8 through the conference season.
In the first round of the Class 4A playoffs, the Vikings stumbled against Charles City, falling on the road to the Comets 60-45. They ended the year 7-14 overall.
As a team, Decorah shot 37.0 percent from the field, hitting 365-of-977 shots. They also connected on 32.4 percent of their three-point attempts and hit 61.9 percent from the free throw line. They averaged 46.2 points a night. They scored 968 points a game and allowed 1,139.
In addition, they had 606 total rebounds (211 offensive, 395 defensive), averaging 28.9 a game. For the season they dished out 220 assists and had 256 steals.
For their efforts, senior Anna Madrigal was named first team all-conference, with senior Abby Arend second team and senior Noreen Gentry honorable mention.
