The high school state trapshooting championship was held recently in Cedar Falls, with over 1,000 individual shooters taking part in the event.
The June 3 and 4 competition weekend capped a season which featured 150 trap league meets statewide, with over 545,000 shots fired.
Locally, teams from South Winn and Turkey Valley competed at the championship.
Bohr, Kuboushek win awards
Each participant had the chance to shoot 200 targets during the competition, with awards given for the top performers. Recent South Winn graduate Logan Bohr broke a 197 out of 200, earning him the first place men's award.
South Winn's Nicole Kuboushek, who will begin her junior year at SW this fall, earned second place in the state for the ladies with a score of 190.
The Maquoketa Cardinals red team won the team title with 467 points. The South Winn black team put up 425 points. Other local results include Turkey Valley red, 417; South Winn red, 406; South Winn gold, 375; Turkey Valley black, 349; and South Winn silver, 338.
Turkey Valley was led by Cole Langreck. He had an 87 individual score and 185 league score.
