It was a battle on the hardwood Thursday night in Jackson Junction as the Turkey Valley boys basketball team (2-2, 2-1 UIC) fell to non-conference opponent Decorah (1-2, 0-1 NEIC) 43-44.

Decorah pulled even and won the game in the closing seconds.

From the beginning, both teams were ready to play, with a back-and-forth battle ensuing. Turkey Valley scored the first two points of the game. Turkey Valley went up by four at 11-7, but Decorah made it a two-point contest at the quarter break, 11-9.

The Trojans increased the lead to six at 18-12 midway through the period before the Vikings fought back. They tied the game in the final minutes, but the Trojans went on the attack, getting a bucket and then a score with a foul with no time remaining to lead 23-18.
