The Decorah softball team (0-1) opened the season Tuesday night in Waukon against Kee (1-0), falling 5-4.
The game was played in Waukon due to construction on Kee’s field.
“With only having on practice as a team, I am very pleased with our efforts. Defensively, we made all the plays we could. I thought Annika Vande Krol did a nice job on the mound for her first varsity start,” said Coach Teri Olson.
“The bats finally came alive in the seventh inning when Kassie Hoyme sparked our four-run rally with a lead-off triple. Sometimes that’s all it takes to show that hitting is contagious.”
The Vikings host New Hampton today, Thursday, May 29, at 6 p.m. in a double header. Tuesday, June 3, they are at Crestwood at 6 p.m.
