Two members of the Decorah baseball team were honored for their work in the classroom.

Seniors Jacob Kvale and James Ostlie were named to the 2013 Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association academic all-state second team. A panel of coaches selected seniors who demonstrated outstanding academic, moral and athletic characteristics.

Kvale had an 8-3 record pitching with a 2.03 ERA. At the plate he hit .344, while scoring 23 runs and driving in 23 RBIs. He also was named first team utility player by the district and second team pitcher by the Northeast Iowa Conference.

Ostlie batted .295 this season with 25 runs scored, nine doubles and 28 RBIs. He was named second team all-conference.
