The team may look a little different, but the outcome was the same for the Class 3A No. 2 Decorah boys golf team as the Vikes went out and won the sectional meet Friday at Oneota Golf and Country Club.
In addition, three Vikings individually advanced by finishing in the top-four.
Thursday the Vikes continued conference action, getting another victory.
Home sweet home
Getting the opportunity to take advantage of their home course Friday for the sectional tournament, the Vikings used it to their advantage, winning the sectional tournament with 311 strokes. Clear Lake, ranked No. 5, finished second with 330 strokes. Waverly-Shell Rock finished third with 338 strokes.
Senior Peter Kephart had a solid day on the links. He shot a 39 on the front nine and a 37 on the back for a 76, good for the medalist honors.
The runner-up spot was a tie between Michael Peter and Bryce Pierce. However, after a one-hole sudden death, Pierce took the honor. He had a 40 on the first nine and 37 on the back for a 77. Peter also shot a 77 (38-39). Taking the final individual qualifier spot was Clear Lake's Dane Waldron with a 79.
