The large Decorah girls track team split in two Tuesday night, with part of the team at Maquoketa Valley and another group at Crestwood.

At Maquoketa Valley
Half the team traveled to Maquoketa Valley to compete against 17 other squads. In the end, Decorah won the meet with 124.2 points. Cascade was second at 85 points.
The Vikings had three events take first, including one setting a school record.
Junior Kassie Hoyme broke the shot put mark by putting it 40 feet, 6.25 inches. The previous record was 40 feet, 5.25 inches, set in 2012 by Kassie’s sister Jackie, who is currently a member of the Luther track team.
Amanda Taylor was the champion in the 1,500-meter run. She broke the tape in 5:01.32.
The 4x800 relay also took first. Kalle Solberg, Katie Perez, Lindsay Vande Lune and Taylor had a time of 9:56.52.
