Decorah has a new girls head swimming and diving coach.
Kyrie Jorgenson, a DHS graduate, will take over the program this fall.
Former Head Coach Steph Drewes, who led both the boys and girls program in 2012-13, resigned both positions following the 2013 season.
Jorgenson was a 2007 graduate of Decorah High School and went on to graduate from Northwestern College in St. Paul, Minn., in 2011. During her time as a swimmer at DHS, Jorgenson was a part of four conference championship teams, a state qualifier three times and was a former school record holder in the 50-meter freestyle.
"We are extremely excited and appreciative to have Coach Jorgenson rejoin the Decorah High School swimming family in her new role. Kyrie will bring great pride and passion for Decorah swimming and diving, which we hope will be a great asset to the student-athletes and their families who participate in the program. We are also very thankful to Coach Drewes and what she has done for Decorah swimming during the past year. We wish her all the best in her new endeavors," said Activities Director Adam Riley.
