Despite earning a co-starter spot earlier in the week, Decorah native and current University of Iowa linebacker Josey Jewell will have to wait to get his first collegiate playing time.
Jewell, a 2012 DHS grad and a redshirt freshman, suffered a broken hand in practice last Wednesday. He did not play in Saturday’s season opener against the University of Northern Iowa. Iowa won the game 31-23.
“He won’t be in next week, I know that, and then hopefully maybe after that,” Head Coach Kirk Ferentz said following Saturday’s win. “We’ll see what happens.”
