Getting a chance to play on the home courts for the first time all year, the Decorah boys tennis team hosted Waterloo West Monday evening.

Unfortunately for Viking fans, it didn't go as planned, with the Vikings falling 6-3.

Decorah picked up one win in singles play from C.J. Cliff at the No. 5 spot (5-7, 6-3 (11-9)).

In doubles play, Coach Reg Laursen mixed up the pairings, with Lucas Hunter and Gable Lonning at the No. 1 spot. The duo fell 4-6, 5-7. At the No. 2 spot, Ryan Hageman and T.J. Misseldine defeated Ben Bullerman and Sam Rickter 7-6(7-3), 6-4. Brett LaRue and Cliff knocked off Seth Christensen and Ben Christensen 6-3, 6-4 at the No. 3 doubles spot.

"I thought our guys fought hard, but we could only find one win. Ryan was overpowered. If Lucas Hunter can cut down on his unforced errors, he will be a real force. T.J. had many close games but couldn't find the final answers. Brett, C..J and Gable were all within a couple points of winning," said Laursen.
