Winneshiek County will be well represented at the state cross country meet.

The Decorah girls team advanced in Class 3A by taking first at the state qualifying meet in Waverly. Last year the girls won the state title.

The Decorah boys team finished second at the Waverly state-qualifying site. The Vikes will be looking to defend their 2012 state title.

After a year away from the big meet, the South Winn boys team advanced after finishing second at the Jesup state qualifying site in Class 1A. Also moving on is the South Winn girls team, which also finished second at Jesup.

Turkey Valley junior Ryan Izer will be competing for the second time in his career at the big meet. Izer finished third at the Jesup state qualifying site.

The state meet is Saturday, Nov. 2, in Fort Dodge.
