Looking to end the regular season with a big win and some momentum, the Class 3A No. 10 Decorah baseball team (25-8) did just that, defeating Cedar Falls (21-13) 6-2 Tuesday night at home.

The Vikings open postseason play Friday, July 19, at home against Crestwood, beginning at 7 p.m. The Vikes enter the postseason on a nine-game win streak.

In Tuesday night's game, the Vikes got on the board first when Josey Jewell reached base. He was moved over by a James Ostlie bunt sacrifice. He later scored on a Kyle Kane single. With Bryton Meyer brought in to pinch run for Kane, Meyer was able to move to second on a walk to Cole Svestka. He advanced to third when Gavin Nimrod punched a single to load the bases with two outs. He scored on a pass ball.

The Vikes added two more runs in the third inning. After Cedar Falls finally broke through in the top of the fourth with a pair of runs, Decorah answered with two final runs in the bottom of the sixth.
