Runners couldn't have asked for a better day Saturday as hundreds of harriers took the course at Luther for the 42nd annual All-American meet.

The event featured junior high, JV, high school and college races.



Varsity

In the varsity high school race, the Class 3A No. 4 Decorah boys finished fourth overall with 123 points. Class 3A No. 2 Charles City won the meet with 63 points. Class 1A No. 8 South Winn finished 12th with 280 points.

Winning the boys race was Class 3A No. 4 Jacob Day. The senior from Charles City posted a time of 16:05.5.

The Vikings were led by Class 3A No. 11 Isaac Marquadt. The junior finished 14th overall in 17:17.4. Right behind him was senior Forde Nesteby. Nesteby, ranked No. 10 in Class 3A, posted a time of 17:17.7. Contributing to the team score were Class 3A No. 13 Oran Deen-Lester, who finished 18th in 17:21.6; Class 3A No. 14 Andrew Larson, touring the course in 17:49.4 for 31st; and Garrett Nordheim, who in 18:16.1 finished 45th. Also running varsity were Jacob Hrdlicka, 54th in 18:41.3, and Parker Fretheim, 59th in 18:49.2.

The boys had an average time of 17:36.5, with a spread of 58.7 seconds.

The Warriors had just five varsity runners on the course Saturday, with an average time of 18:42.3 and a spread of 2:31.7. Leading the way was Nathan Meyer. The senior, who is ranked No. 27 in Class 1A, finished 26th in 17:38.7. Right on his footsteps was senior Class 1A No. 14 Devin Franzen, who was 27th in 17:40.6. Also running for the Warriors were Alex Upton, who was 65th in 18:57.2; Cody Fisher, with a time of 19:04.2 for 70th; and Brian Kleppe in 92nd in 20:10.4.
