Luther College softball players Becca Girvan and Kelsey Rose have been named to the 2014 Capital One Division III Academic All-District® Softball Team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
The list is comprised of the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.
Girvan, a 2010 graduate of Osseo High School (Minn.) and Rose, a 2011 graduate of Bettendorf High School, have been named to the Capital One Academic All-District VIII First-Team. This the second time in as many seasons Girvan has been so honored and the first time for Rose.
The Capital One Division III Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division III national governance structure, to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2011-12 DIII Academic All-America® teams program.
First-team Academic All-District ® honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
Girvan, a 2012 NFCA All-American, has posted a record of 15-3 in the pitching circle, striking out 161 batters in 113.1 innings of work, en route to an ERA of 1.91.
Rose has started all 33 games to date in left field. She is leading the Norse with a batting average of .491. She also leads the team in RBI (40) and doubles (12).
Girvan is an economics, mathematics and statistics triple major, with a grade point average of 3.66. She is the daughter of Dan and Gwen Girvan of Maple Grove, Minn.
Rose is an accounting major with a grade point average of 3.73. She is the daughter of Kevin and Mary Ann Rose of Bettendorf.
