It was a little too close for comfort for Warrior fans Tuesday night as Class 2 No. 8 South Winn and North Fayette Valley battled in the district semifinal in New Hampton.

When the dust had settled, it was South Winn that prevailed, 5-4 over the TigerHawks.
South Winn takes a 32-1 record into the district final against New Hampton (20-11). The Chickasaws defeated Osage (13-15) 10-4 in the other half of the bracket Tuesday night. The final game is Saturday, July 19, at 7 p.m. in New Hampton. The substate final, pitting the winner of South Winn and New Hampton against Forest City (18-11) or Eagle Grove (8-18), is Tuesday, July 22, at Mason City at 7 p.m.
In the only meeting of the year, South Winn defeated New Hampton 17-10.
