With four scores under 40, the Decorah boys golf team had a strong performance Monday in Waukon, defeating the Indians 149 to 197.
Medalist of the meet was Viking Sam Sacquitne, who shot an even par 35. Matt Schissel wasn’t far behind, taking the runner-up spot with a 37. Bryce Pierce carved out a 38 while Derek Weis fired a 39. Tyler Barth came through with a 41, with Reese Drenth adding a 43.
“It was a very good team score for our second meet of the year,” said Coach Rich Gaard. “Four scores below 40 is outstanding.”
There was no JV team score as Waukon had just three players out. Decorah scores were: Conner Gossman, 40; Reid Drenth, 41; Joe Knoke, 45; Nick Woosley, 54; and Avery Brandt, 55.

The Vikings host Charles City and Oelwein today, Thursday, April 24, at Oneota at 4 p.m. Monday, April 28, they go to New Hampton at 4 p.m. while Tuesday, April 29, they are at Caledonia at 4 p.m.
