Five local athletes were named to the all Upper Iowa Conference softball team, released recently.
Three members from South Winn and two from Turkey Valley were honored.
South Winn junior Brittany Shindelar was named first team as an outfielder. Shindelar was second on the team in batting average with a .427 mark. She had a .491 on-base percentage and a .699 slugging clip. In 103 at-bats, she scored 17 runs on 44 hits, with six doubles, two triples and six home runs. She also drove in 38, most on the team.
South Winn’s Kendal Kuboushek and Turkey Valley’s Chloe Reicks both were named second team for their first UIC honors.
Kuboushek, a senior first baseman, hit .290 this season, with a .393 slugging mark and a .350 on-base percentage. She had 23 runs scored, with 31 hits, five doubles, two home runs and 15 RBI.
Reicks, a senior outfielder, hit .273 for the Trojans. She had a .379 on-base percentage and a .444 slugging mark. In 99 at-bats, she had 22 runs scored, 10 doubles, two triples and 26 RBI.
South Winn’s Courtney Humpal and Turkey Valley’s Arianna Rausch, both catchers, were named honorable mention by the league. Humpal was also named honorable mention a season ago.
Humpal produced a .393 on-base percentage last year, with a .363 slugging mark and a .286 batting average. She scored 16 runs and had four doubles, along with driving in 17.
Rausch, a junior, was third on the team in batting average with a .322 mark. She also had a .400 on-base percentage and slugging average. She drove in 18 while also providing 37 hits and six doubles.
