A Garrett Bohach 3-yard run with under two seconds remaining in the game brought the fans to their feet in Calmar Friday night as the Class 1A No. 4 South Winn football team (3-0, 1-0 district) defeated Sumner-Fredericksburg (2-1, 0-1 district) 34-28.

The Warriors, ranked No. 4 by the Cedar Rapids Gazette and No. 3 by the Des Moines Register, came from a 28-22 deficit starting the fourth quarter to keep their undefeated season alive.

"This was a great test for us as we had to battle for four quarters to get the win," said Coach Jason Ohrt.

From the very beginning, it was a battle between the Cougars and the Warriors. Sumner-Fred took the ball first and drove all the way down the field, capping the drive with a 25-yard pass play for the score. With the extra point, the Cougars led 7-0.

The Warriors, who had never trailed in 2013, remained calm. Still in the first, the Warriors got the offense going, with Bohach going 25 yards for the score. The two-point run failed, making it 7-6 Cougars.
