Five members of the South Winn baseball team and three from Turkey Valley have been named to the Upper Iowa Conference all-conference teams.
Earning first team honors were South Winn's Colton Hageman (senior, infield), Trevor Schweienfus (junior, pitcher) and Jordan Rommes (sophomore, utility player); second team recognition went to Turkey Valley's Riley Busta (junior, pitcher) and Dalton Hackman (senior, outfield) and South Winn's Jared Schroeder (junior, outfield). Turkey Valley's Michael Novotny (junior, pitcher) and South Winn's Christian Kleve (sophomore, catcher) earned honorable mention.
Hageman earned his third UIC honor in his career. He was named first team in 2012 and second team in 2011. During his senior campaign, he hit .398, with a .556 on-base percentage and .484 slugging clip. He had five doubles, 22 RBIs and scored 44 runs, most on the team. He also had 27 stolen bases, the most on the team.
Schweinefus is a first team all-UIC honoree. On the mound he went 5-3 in eight starts. He threw 54 innings and compiled a 1.94 ERA, with 35 strikeouts. At the plate he hit .297 with 16 RBIs and 15 runs scored.
Rommes, a two-time UIC honoree after being named second team in 2012, was second in Class 2A with 48 RBIs. He was second in the conference for every day players with a .500 batting average, to go with a .549 on-base percentage and .775 slugging clip. He had 16 doubles and 33 runs scored. On the mound he went 7-2 with a 3.57 ERA.
Riley earned his first UIC honor. In seven starts he posted a 4-2 record in 47 and 1/3 innings. He posted a 4.58 ERA with 44 strikeouts.
Hackman, a first time UIC honoree, batted .351 this season, with a .422 on-base percentage. He had 27 runs scored, six doubles and 22 RBIs, along with 16 stolen bases.
Earning his first UIC honor, Schroeder hit .293 with .453 on-base percentage. He had 32 runs scored, 15 RBIs and stole 23 bases.
Novotny hit .272 for the Trojans, with 23 runs scored and 19 RBIs. This is his first all-UIC honor.
Kleve hit .341 on the season with 30 hits and 27 RBIs. He garnered his first all-UIC recognition this season.
