Getting to play on its home courts for the first time this season, the Decorah girls tennis team got three big wins in doubles to defeat Oelwein 6-3 Tuesday.
Monday's meet with Osage was moved to Thursday, April 11.
In Tuesday's match, the Vikes swept the doubles matches to earn the victory.
"The Decorah girls finally had their first dual meet of the season and made the most of it with a solid performance against an improved Oelwein squad. Even though both teams have had difficultly getting a chance to hit on outside courts due to the snow and cold, the level of tennis played was pretty good," said Coach Larry Berland. "Due to a lack of game experience, Decorah continues to experiment with a starting lineup in the top-six positions. Playing under pressure in a competitive match where it means something is really the only way that you get better. We get to compete against last year's No. 2 team in Waterloo on Saturday (at the Columbus Catholic Tournament). The girls better strap it on and get ready for that in the next couple of practices or we are in for an awakening."
